Living the New Physics
An Interview with
'Physics Meister' Mike Wright
Magazine version of an interview with Mike Wright excerpted from:
Into the Science of Consciousness, An Introduction to the New Physics by Bruce A. Smith©
In the course of pitching my newly written novel to several new-agey publishing houses and literary agents, I received an unexpected invitation:
“I see in your biography,” said Gary Heidt of the Imprint Agency of New York City, “that you write about quantum physics.”
“That’s right,” I replied. “I’ve just finished a couple of magazine articles on antigravity and the bio-physics of human levitation.”
“Cool,” Gary replied, “because we’re not interested in your novel. But if you ever want to write a book on the New Physics, I hope you’ll let us take a look.”
“You bet,” I answered, using a colloquial expression foreign to me before I settled in Yelm
in 1990, but now fully ensconced in my neural nets.
So, with an agent’s interest, I immediately dumped my novel and began to write about the New Physics.
However, I had to find out what the New Physics was, first. I intuited that it was probably some kind of quantum physics with mind-over-matter stuff thrown in,
but I really didn’t have a clue. So, as in most matters of science that exceed my grasp, I turned to
Mike Wright to enlighten me.
Now, for those of you who don’t know Mike Wright, he’s a teacher at Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment, and is RSE’s Director of Products and Services. He’s also the physics meister and self-proclaimed “physics fun-guy” of Beyondtheordinary KRSE™ web cast radio.
Twice monthly at noon on Tuesdays, Mike hosts a physics call-in show and educates his audience in a folksy and delightful manner. He’s smart, charming and funny, but best of all he’s exceptionally generous with his time.
He’s also been an editor of mine, for a too-brief period of time at THE GOLDEN THREAD MAGAZINE (now defunct), during which he shepherded me through several emotional meltdowns of anger, angst and despair, and gave me a big boost in the direction of becoming a professional journalist.
.....
But, folks I’ve got to tell you, I wasn’t ready for my interview with Mike.
“What do you mean by science?” he replied when I asked him to define The New Physics.
“Mike, you’re not helping me here,” I said.
He just laughed.
I was flustered, and asked a few more questions that, now, I can’t recall. However, I do remember that every question I asked was met with its own question. Our conversation seemed to be heading nowhere, and I began to sweat. A tension built in the back of my neck and I asked myself: Where’s the interview I need for this book? Where are the quotables? "Mike, c’mon, what the heck is the new physics?"
"The Tao is Silent", he announced, out of the blue, and laughed some more. “It’s a book by Raymond Smullyan. You should read it.” He continued.
“In one vignette of the book, a Taoist master is asked to summarize the essence of his decades of study and contemplation. After a short pause, the master tells the interviewer,
‘The Tao is silent.’ Of course, this is of no help to the interviewer, who will eventually have to spend a good deal of his own time studying and contemplating to understand the nature of
the subject he is investigating.”
Mike, I thought, I don’t need Tao and I don’t want silence or a run-around. I want concise answers that will enlighten the world, transform Republicans into progressive Democrats, and get me a Pulitzer. C’mon man, the New Physics, ya know, the science that’s gonna change the world!
“Everyone is the Observer of their own reality,” Mike stated definitively. “Yet a person does not directly observe the phenomena he/she experiences. Everyone’s observations are filtered through their own model of reality: the assumptions, beliefs, and expectations that shade our perceptions. Everyone who reads your book will create their own reality of it and what impact it has on them, if any.”
Mike was orchestrating my interview, to a purpose. His questions led me to become my “Observer,” able to see how I created my own reality, at least the reality of why I asked the question I did. I didn’t get enlightened all at once, though. Mike kept me off-balance every few minutes with a question that took the conversation in another unexpected direction, like this one: “Who are you writing this book for, Bruce?”
“Ahh, well, students in Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment for starters, but I think I can write a book for the whole world, one that can be understood by everyone, and written clearly enough so everyone can get something out of it, something that can change their lives.”
“No, you’re not.”
“What do you mean? You don’t think I can write a book that everyone will want to read?”
Mike shook his head, No.
“Well, who do you think I’m writing for, then?” I challenged back.
“You,” he said authoritatively. “You are writing for you.”
“I am?”
“Yes, you always write for yourself, first. You seek your answers; you form your questions and explore the topics that interest you. If anyone wants to follow along on your journey, well, that’s just gravy.”
I smoldered inside thinking that Mike considered my hot-shot book on the Science That Can Change the World as being not much more than a glorified diary. Arggghhhhh.
“I’m not giving you the answers you expected, am I?” Mike said, giving me some consolation, finally.
“You certainly are not,” I replied
“Welcome to the New Physics.”
“Hunh?”
“This conversation,” he continued, “this interview, is an experience in the New Physics.
It is not linear; it’s not what you expected, and it is fundamentally altered from what you’ve experienced in the past. Right now, you have a lot of unexamined assumptions, beliefs, and expectations from your past experiences that are filtering your perceptions. You are interpreting my comments through your old model. I am speaking from a new model and attempting to decondition you from your old expectations so that you can experience the new with more clarity, and I know that is not comfortable for you.”
“You got that right.”
“You want a definition of the New Physics?” Mike offered.
“Please.”
“It is nonlinear and it is multidisciplinary, like psycho-neuro-immunology, and it is also multidimensional.”
“Okay, I’m kinda getting it now,” I replied. The New Physics is the science of interdimensional reality. But can you tell me about the science of mind-over-matter? How do we use the New Physics?”
“It all depends on what model of reality you want to talk about.” I gave him a look that said: Here you go again, just when you were beginning to make some sense, too.
“There are many models of reality. The one thing, perhaps the most important thing that quantum physics has given us, is the acknowledgment that there are many different versions, or ways for interpreting reality. There is no one way. There is no, ‘it,’ as in, ‘That’s IT!’ There isn’t only one right description and every other description is wrong.
“What we have are many different interpretations, such as the Copenhagen Interpretation, or Cramer’s Transactional Theory, or Wheeler and Everett’s Many Worlds Theory, or even Ramtha’s Model, if you will, based upon his experience and perspective of reality. If a model is consistent and explains the phenomena of quantum physics, then it is useful. Some models are useful in areas where others are not, and vice versa. They each explain a certain finding in a way that is more useful than another model. So, the model you use depends upon what phenomena you are attempting to describe, explain, control, or predict.”
I waved my arms to evoke more information.
“To describe all of this to you might take me three years,” Mike intoned.
“Then, Mike, let me ask you some specifics,” I countered.
“Okay.”
“What is matter, and what is energy?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” he replied.
“What?!”
“Feynman won the Noble Prize in Physics, and he very clearly stated he didn’t know what
an electron was.”
“Well, what about torsion fields?” I countered. “A year ago you told me a torsion field is a structure built from a medium in the medium, like a tornado is a structure of air in air. The prevailing view from many antigravity researchers is that when torsion fields are created inside an electromagnetic field, antigravitic effects are created. So, what is the energy, the medium that is creating a torsion field?”
“That’s what you interpreted from what I said. I told you about tornados and whirlpools. I don’t know what a torsion field is. Or an electromagnetic field, either, for that matter.”
Exasperated yet again, I slowly took off my baseball cap. Running my fingers through my shoulder-length hair to gain composure I asked, “Mike, what the hell are you doing to me here?”
“I’m giving you a New Physics experience.”
“You planned this, didn’t you?”
“Yes, in my focus this morning. I created my day well, don’t you think?”
“Yes, “I chuckled. “Darn well.” Mike saw my distress, confusion, and wonderment. In utter mercy he explained:
“According to classical physics, matter is anything that has mass and occupies space. In that model energy is not matter; it is the capacity for doing work. Energy is the manifestation of a particular variety of force.
“But what is force?” he asked rhetorically. “It’s the agency responsible for a change in a system. But what is an agency?”
Mike continued with his answer: “Matter can also be defined as a compressed energy state, or energy that has a low vibratory rate. Remember E=mc²?
“In other models, matter is defined as condensed consciousness and energy, an experience rather than a separate objective thing. In these models there is no reality until an Observer creates it.”
“And a field?” I asked weakly, knowing I was in for more of the same.
“A field is another way of modeling how a force communicates its influence,” Mike said. “A field is a collection of numbers that describes the strength and direction of the force at every point in space. It describes how space has been modified by the presence of a force. In some models, all of reality is composed only of interactions between fields: no matter, no energy, no separate things that are needed to describe reality, just collections of numbers interacting with other collections of numbers.
“You see, I can tell you what this scientist says a field is. Or what that scientist says about torsion fields. But is it? It is their interpretation of their observations.”
“I get it,” I replied. “I’m creating my reality, my interpretation of reality, all the time. What is my definition of a field, what is my observation of a field?”
“Yes, your book about the New Physics does not exist outside of the New Physics. It is part of the New Physics, and you will write it in the New Physics, and readers will read it in the New Physics, with the phenomena of the New Physics happening all the time as you and they do so.”
“Wow.”
“Yeah, wow.”
Mike continued. “The New Physics is like the Wild West of the 1800s.
It’s wild, untamed, unexplored and totally foreign to every city slicker Back East that’s learning to enjoy gas lamps on paved streets, running water and indoor plumbing.”
“So, this book is like a map,” I suggested, “a guideline to the New Physics, like a trail guide to the Santa Fe of the mind.”
“Not exactly. It’s more than that.”
Hmmm. After a moment of pondering I got his unspoken message.
“If I can write it right, it’ll be a New Physics experience like the one you’re giving me.”
“Yes, exactly.” Mike smiled, then looked at the wall clock. That signal, as “old physics” as it was, told me that our time was running short.
“One more question,” I beseeched. “What are our bands made of? What is the energy, or what type of energy makes up the bands?”
“You mean the energetic fields of the body?”
“Yes.”
“William Tiller from Stanford and Valerie Hunt from UCLA have studied that subject in detail. They can give you lots of information. Do you remember your initial understanding of the bands at your beginning retreat at RSE?”
“Yeah…”
“It was a two-dimensional description, illustrated as a kind of race track going around the body, right?”
“Yup.”
“Then, in later teachings you learned that the bands encompass the body like an egg, a three-dimensional description of the bands, right?”
“Yes.”
“Well, what do your bands look like in four spatial dimensions?”
“I, ahh, I don’t know.”
“If you want to begin to understand multidimensional phenomena, I suggest you read up on hypercubes; tesseract is another term. Try a Google™ search. That’ll give you a new view of how structures in a fourth spatial dimension may look and act, and how they spin.
“I can tell you this: The bands have some component of a moving magnetic field. Do you remember the night at RSE we did the Torsion Process over and over?”
“Yup.”
“In the presence of a moving magnetic field, a magnetic inductance coil will create a small electric current. Well, that night I placed a magnetic inductance circuit in front of me,” Mike said. “I was able to generate some electricity to charge a capacitor, enough to illuminate an LED light. I produced enough electricity from spinning my bands to light an LED.”
“That’s great! Mike, I’ve had a plan for a few months that I wanted to rig a digital scale in my home so I could measure my weight, my gravitational weight after doing C&E or the Torsion Process. I’m sure it would be less than when I started.”
“Want a simpler method of measuring your body’s response to your work in consciousness?”
“Sure.”
“Check your pH. Test your saliva before and after. It will register more alkaline afterwards. For a control, you can compare any changes from simply doing deep breathing.”
“Cool idea. So Mike, what is the physiology of trance? How do our bodies change when we create trance states for ourselves?”
“Serotonin is synthesized into melatonin, and then that gets converted into pinoline, beta-carboline, and harmala alkaloids.”
“Hunh? I know about serotonin, melatonin, and I have an idea about pinoline; but what are harmala alkaloids?”
“They’re all neurotransmitters, and they facilitate different levels of consciousness.”
“Do they facilitate quantum shifting? Are they the chemicals of the Observer?”
“Who does the quantum shifting?”
“The Observer.”
“Exactly. The chemical changes are like footprints to a tracker. They are the artifacts of the activity of the Observer.”
At that point I could tell we were really at an end. But Mike didn’t rise up when I collected my notes. Out of the blue he asked,
“Do you think your agent has a digital camera?”
“I would imagine so. I’ve never met her, but she lives in New York’s Upper West Side.”
“Do you think she would like a visit from a luminous being? Tell her to take a picture of the chair on the right.” Mike smiled and said nothing more.
“You bet.” I imagined that he had gone to the chair in consciousness and had placed an orb or some other talisman there that would register in the high-speed process of the digital camera. We students at Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment have seen hundreds of pictures of interdimensional entities who appear in digital picture as orbs, or their energies appear in plasma waves, much like Northern Lights. When Ramtha is teaching, the arena of RSE is full
of them, so much so the pictures look like they were taken in a cloud-filled room instead of the perfectly clear room the eye sees.
As we walked out of the offices of RSE and a few feet into the sunlit parking lot I stopped.
“I forget where I am,” I explained.
Mike laughed softly.
“Or where my car is,” I added. “Oh, wait,” I said regaining my contact with the reality of whatever world I had parked in. “There it is.”
I backtracked a few steps toward my car, then stopped again and turned.
“Thanks, Mike. Thanks for everything.”
“My distinct pleasure,” he said, bowing slightly.
“Keep in touch,” he added as I fumbled in my jacket pocket to extract the car keys that inexplicably had gotten stuck in the fabric. A moment later, after I had found the right key and put it in the door lock, I turned and said, “You bet.”
Mike was gone.
Where did he go? He couldn’t have walked that fast back to his office?
It seems there isn’t any end to mystery when one is investigating the New Physics!
