Pain Acute and Chronic
An interesting thing happened during the power outage in Yelm. People with chronic pain ran out of their pain meds and were “asking around” looking for friends that might have extra. The reason you are incapable of loving — you are incapable of loving everyone — is because you are still holding people under the pendulum of positive and negative. You don’t like people for a specific reason because it counters or perhaps reflects an element of yourself you are endeavoring to master. How are you supposed to know the glory of love without going out and meeting the adversities of your dislikes to know yourself and uncover yourself more?

Well, we certainly had a great runner this past week. We knew we were supposed to have snow coming in sometime Saturday night (January 14th). Here in Washington State, an inch of snow is a lot and 4 inches will close things down – schools, businesses, etc. What is normal for us here is to get an inch of snow then it melts by the next day.
We got our 4 inches of snow, so we all just stayed home, not a problem since it was Sunday. Monday wasn't too bad – if you didn't HAVE to go to work or school, you stayed home and waited for the snow to melt. Only it didn't melt. We got another foot to foot and a half over the next 2 days. By Wednesday we knew we weren't going anywhere any time soon. Didn't matter if the roads were plowed or not – there was no way to get out of my driveway to get onto the road.

The great Pacific Northwest snow and ice storm of 2012 is over for now and electricity is slowly being restored to the greater Yelm community. Everyone I have spoken with agrees that this was a “Giant Runner” to help us evaluate our preparedness. Word is we are due for another blast in the near future.

On a personal note, I want to take a moment to remember the passing of my brother on Friday, Graeme O'Brien, of Brisbane, Australia. Graeme, was a very special person. His students say he touched their lives with his gift of truth telling and compassion. He was a sought after teacher, counselor and friend to thousands. Graeme and I shared our common history and a passion for the possibilities of a life well lived. Godspeed on your journey home, Graeme. - Jan, MC2020

Our teacher has said, time and again, Water! Water! Water! Store water. Water will become more precious than gold. Move out of the cities and buy a bit of land, and have your own well so that YOU can be in control of your water supply.
Why do we suppose he keeps going on about WATER? I mean, here in the U.S., EVERYBODY has water ALL the time, so it is easy to forget about putting up water. Or you may have done a teeny tiny bit in respect to being able to supply your family with water 24/7/365 (that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year), and you keep MEANING to get around to the other stuff you haven't done yet.
