By Louise SaintOnge for MastersConnection LLC© 2010 All Rights Reserved At the crack of dawn on Thursday, May 6th, Miceal Ledwith began the first in a series of three talks. These talks are being filmed in front of a live audience and will soon be available on DVD, the first just before Assay this summer. One of the small theaters at Yelm Cinemas was transformed into an elegant setting with plants and special lighting, and filled with approximately 50 enthusiastic RSE students who didn’t know what the subject matter would be, but certain that if Miceal was giving a presentation, it would be worth listening to.
The topic of Thursday morning’s talk was Mary Magdalene and her importance for us today. Drawing on a myriad of ancient texts, scriptures and manuscripts, Miceal unraveled the myths and fabricated stories around Mary Magdalene to reveal the truth about who she was, the attitude towards women at the time, her relationship with Jesus, and the fact that she was actually called the Apostle of the Apostles.
With his unique blend of extraordinary knowledge, deep wisdom, and wry sense of humor Miceal captivates his audiences , and three hours flies by as if it were one. The questions and answers that followed the presentation were just as informative.
The second talk is titled God and the Perversity of Suffering being held on Friday morning at 7am. The final talk of the series is being called 2012, but according to Miceal ‘for perversity’s sake we’ll call it 2013”. This will be on Monday, May 10th at 7am.
There are still a few seats left for Monday’s talk. If you are interested in attending, please contact Kelly at 360-400-4321 or email her at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
